Our Company History
Over 100 years ago, a young Japanese immigrant named Kiyoshi Takano moved into a small home on the grounds of Moanalua Gardens, little did he realize when he planted his family roots here that he was laying the groundwork for three generations of island landscaping.
The beginnings were basic. Designing walkways and planting trees at Honolulu parks. Creating oriental gardens and private residences. Adorning Waikiki’s first wave of resort hotels with lush tropical plants, waterfalls and ponds.
Those who follow Kiyoshi’s footsteps inherited his love of landscaping, creating a family business that today covers the Hawaiian Islands. From mastering the complexities of golf courses to enhancing both large commercial and residential projects, Takano Nakamura Landscaping has added a special touch to many of our islands most spectacular settings.
For Nearly 100 years, Takano Nakamura Landscaping has created dramatic landscaping environments throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Through Danny Nakamura, the company maintains the philosophy that no job is too large or too small. Danny, Nakamura, President of Takano Nakamura Landscaping inc. apprenticed as a teenager under his father Saishi Takano Nakamura. Saishi followed in the footsteps of his father, Kiyoshi Takano, the original founder of the horticulturist business.
“Our clients truly benefit from our teamwork approach to the business” notes Danny.
Takano Nakamura offers an innovative group of professionals- experts who utilized equipment and facilities backed by technical knowledge. From concept to completion this team helps maintain a client’s budget, backed with ideas, variations and applications that are fresh to the industry.
